Spin Art with paper plate, cd and a lid...

This activity was inspired  by Teach Preschool. Check out their Paper plate spin art post here.  I was sooo inspired by the idea, wanted to try it right away!! I did not have those paper plates, I could have bought them at dollar store. But I am the sorts who try to do with things at hand and I am glad we did as we ended up trying a couple of different things!!! Oooh so many possibilties....

To begin with squirt some paint on a plate(party left over). We used crayola finger paintsto begin with....
Then flip it over on a sheet of paper and then turn the plate with your hand a few times....

Lift the plate up... ooohing and aahing as the art is revealed :)
And you have a beautiful spin art without a spinner! This is double fun as you get two artwork each time, one on the plate and other the paper!
End result... (looks to me like coral reefs)
After making a couple more of these, putti was ready to try another thing to turn..... a CD !!
 Love these...
And then finally we tried the lid of whipped topping (any lid that's sort of clear works)...
This really excited putti a lot as she could see the colors mixing which was cool !!!
Next with the same lid(just wipe the lid with a baby wipe and you are ready to try again with new colors) we used crayola washable kids paints
She wanted to do more and more... We already had many papers, so instead of giving her more paper I gave her a big poster board to paint and she loved turning and twisting the lid to make wonderful spin art!!
And this is how we added paints using a paint brush....since the washable paints are in bottles
And the grand end picture !!!
I love the results so much and putti loved the process, I might repeat this on a big canvas maybe with acrylic paints. Also check out this post at The Chocolate Muffin Tree, where they made it into a color mixing activity!!
