Salt Paintings and a card for MOM...

Putti made this 'MOM' card with salt paint and said its for me !!
This is one activity that putti visits very often and each time she does atleast 2-3 paintings. I think we use salt more for art and craft than in our cooking :)
It is so simple and all you need is a card on which first you paint/draw with glue and then sprinkle/pour salt all over. Then lift the card to remove the excess salt and finally paint with foodcolors or  watercolors, both work fine. For step by step photos look at my Salt Paint Earth post. If your child is not yet writing you can draw the letters in glue for them.

Some abstract designs..

I made the butterfly in glue when she asked for..
A happy face..

We haven't used salt paint before, but it does look fabulous! And your MOM card is too lovely :-)

Happy Mother's Day!!

Love Salt and water colors! I was thinking of doing this again soon (last time was 2 years ago!) Again, great minds think alike!!!! Yours look beautiful! Ours were very abstract, but beautiful too! You are always an inspiration---Thanks!

Amazing! This is so pretty! I can't wait to try it.

Very, very pretty! This is definitely on our to do list!

Kerri

I like this idea very much, we will try it, thanks

@Maggy You should try it, its so much fun.. putti loves pouring the salt part and also loves to see how the salt absorbs colors:)

@Melissa Thanks! Isnt this an amazing activity:)
As I have said putti asks to make these very often. Most times she makes abstract and this time I asked her to make MOM :) The face and the green abstract were done almost a mnth ago.

@Mariann Thanks. Please note that most of the salt will fall off after it dries.. but still looks pretty

Looks like fun. We'll have to try it.

This looks so fun. Do you wait for the glue/salt to dry before painting (I assume)?

gorgeous! What a great idea to add food colour!

Putti's salt paint artworks are always beautiful! This turned out so colourful!

I've not seen this idea before - thanks for the inspiration :)

This will be featured tonight! :)

Thanks for linking to Creative Juice. Hope to see you back again this week...

that is cool. I am glad you linked to the step by step because I am unfamiliar with this type of painting. I love it and can't wait to try in my own home. Thanks for sharing at my art party!

I love how beautiful the salt paintings came out! I featured you this week on It's Playtime. Thank you so much for sharing with us!

@Krissy @ B.Inspired No, we dont wait for it dry, just paint right away...

Thanks for reminding me, Maybe next time, we will try waiting to see if it makes any difference :)

@I am Laura As I said in my post, putti makes these very often so I just let her play, while I do something else and only take pictures of the end product. Glad the step by step pics were helpful!

@Rachele Thanks for the feature!! I too love how simple yet beautiful this is:)

I think I like the most that colorful abstract picture. Very cool! :)
